CentennialSolar PV-H2-FuelCell Power Pack
Worldwide there is a serious effort in commercializing Hydrogen-Fuel Cell technology to reduce toxic emissions. However, clean power from Fuel Cell is not really clean if the hydrogen and oxygen is produced from conventional fossil fuels like coal and oil.
As such, CentennialSolar hopes to one day offer a combination of clean energy storage and conversion using solar panels generating hydrogen and then feeding it in Fuel Cell to get emission free DC electricity. The DC electricity can then be converted to AC using an inverter.
Benefits:
- Minimizes the use of battery storage in a photovoltaic system. The batteries are weakest link in achieving reliability and long life in a standalone PV system. Also, unsafe disposal of acid and lead at the end of the life of a battery remain to be a cause of concern especially in developing countries and remote locations.
- Zero emission means no more acid rain, ozone depletion or global warming
- A future where every community and nation is energy self-sufficient
Components of the PV-H2-FuelCell Power Pack would include:
- Photovoltaic Modules
- Interface controller
- Battery Bank (minimum)
- A water electrolyzer for generating Hydrogen (H2)
- Hydrogen dryer, compressor and H2 storage tank
- A Hydrogen Fuel Cell
- Water recovery system to recover water from hydrogen dryer and fuel cell for reuse in electrolyzer
- Inverter
